Scanning the Fields by Emryswolf Scanning the Fields by Emryswolf
One of my first real concept illustrations for the Siirexians. I drew some sketches of this human character but I have not yet named him.

I am very excited to do more work on this project, I'm going to develop this into a real story. Though, the Dyre will usually be number one on my do-to projects... Until I get my website going I am putting more dyre concept work on hold. For now, this is just as fun! =)

These two characters are members of the Grassland Clan (that not being the official name of the clan.) However, this is simply an idea for settings, clothes, culture, etc... I still need to figure out the small details of their world before I put too much detail into the picture.

I really like the avian attributes of the Grassland Dragons, the Siirexians are very similar in body type to Raptor-type dinosaurs, and few of the different dragon species such as this and the snow species carry thick feathers.

I will be uploading more concept sketches and whatnot.

I also plan to color this. =)

So beautiful! My comments on your work are probably all starting to sound repetetive... But that''s only because English has so very few words fitting for your art.
I'm a bit of a sucker for feathered dragons anyhow... but DANG! You nailed those feathers! :awestruck:
I like how you have the handlebar-looking harness instea of a bit and bridle (I never have been fond of a bit and bridle on a dragon) the saddle is also wonderfully designed. The rider himself is also great. I love the pose you have him in -- staring intently straight ahead with his elbow propped up onto his knee.
Masterfully done!
...I am feeling artistically inspired now...
*To the sketchpad!* :D

Wow, I sooooo wish I could be riding one of those things. So much detail, this is awesome! And I am loving those trees in the background they are really amusing me...

Beautiful job with the detail on this. I can't wait to see further development of the story for these two. I am also excited to color. I can understand being a little tentative on how to go about doing it. I've got no idea of how to use paintshop. All I have is photoshop. I am excited to see what either you OR Ahk come up with. :)

Please tell me you'll be coloring this, and if not, can I? XD

Yea, I really hope to be able to color this myself. But I am really unsure of what medium to use. Colored pencil takes a long time, I don't have alot of experience with markers, and I'm still learning how to digitally color( I have no one to teach me anything, so I have to learn paintshop on my own. Let's just say it's going slowly.) However, I would LOVE to see you color this. I'm not %100 with the chosen colors of this dragon-type. You could always refer back to the other sketch of thi stype to see what I wrote. But perhaps some earthy tones on the bottom side and the feathers can be somewhat colorful. Whatever you decide, be creative. I can't wait to see it if you do decide to color this! =)
Thank you!

Honestly I saw the colors being vaguely similar to a rooster or golden pheasant, judging by the type of feathers you used, but I will refer to the ref :3

I'm sure you'd do just fine whatever way you color it, I always liked your style of coloring anyway XD Like I said in our notes, just play with your medias, get a feel for how they work, and then put them to the test. Markers are really a lot like watercolors and blend wonderfully if you work quickly enough <3

I'll likely digitally color it since printer ink and markers don't mix.

The pheasant or rooster idea for colors is really a great idea. I would go with some gold, brown and green mostly. By all means though, do what you want, you're a creative person.. I would love to see your interpretation of it.
